Filippo Pierini is a researcher at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (IPPT PAN).
He is a materials scientist with a strong interest in nanotechnology, advanced materials and development of scientific instruments. His research activities are very interdisciplinary and span a wide range of experimental areas including electrospinning of polymer and composite nanofibers, stimuli-responsive materials, hydrogels, liquid crystals and conductive polymers for tissue engineering, drug delivery, organic electronics and photovoltaics.
Dr Pierini has extensive experience in the development of new analytical techniques. The main objective of his work in this field is to develop a new hybrid instrument which combines atomic force microscopy (AFM) with optical tweezers (OT) and to study its applications in both fundamental and applied research.
